With over 16 years of experience in healthcare, I created Charlie’s Caring Hands to provide the same level of care I gave my own mother—care rooted in compassion, trust, and genuine connection. This business is more than a profession to me; it is my passion, my purpose, and the calling God has placed on my life.
Charlie’s Caring Hands was born from love, personal experience, and a deep understanding of what quality care truly means. For over 15 years, I cared for my mother and witnessed firsthand the difference that compassionate, reliable, and dignified care can make in someone’s life.
The name Charlie’s Caring Hands honors my late grandfather, Charles Edward Gilmer, a man whose strength, love, and guidance shaped our family. His legacy, combined with the bond and care I shared with my mother, lives on through every client we serve.
After my mother passed away in May 2024, I went through a season of uncertainty and questioned whether I should continue in caregiving. But through that experience, I realized that when we think we have lost our path, God often reveals a greater purpose. What I thought was lost was renewed in me—stronger, deeper, and more meaningful than ever.
Today, every act of care we provide is done in loving memory of my mother, Gail Renee Gilmer Self, and in honor of my grandfather, Charles Edward Gilmer.
